It took me and the people who care about me advocating for over 11 years to get my diagnosis. PoTS has affected my life in multiple ways, from work, spare time activities and just everyday tasks. I think the biggest challenge I face with PoTS personally is that I crave a “normal life”. Another challenge was just coming to terms with the fact I have PoTS, as still, to this day I try to find a balance every day.
The biggest change would be how it has affected my personal life. From losing family and friends, spare time activities and so much more. I’ve been on several different medications because of this and the only ones that seem to help me day to day would be Propranolol and Venflaxine.
The one piece of advice I wish to share with people, who can relate the tiniest bit, would have to be it doesn’t have to be perfect to count, just you trying is enough! I think with the world we live in today, not all disabilities are visible to the human eye. So be kind because everyone is facing a battle you may know nothing about, and one day that could be you facing a similar battle of your own. Education and knowledge is power! Educate yourself and with that knowledge you hold power! I think my goal with my PoTS journey throughout my life is to tell and show people you have a voice so use it! I was once a person who feared speaking up and advocating for myself, but who knows YOUR body best, YOU! Your voice may hold the power to make a change so use it !
